Cambridge Directional Drilling - The Process

Anta Directional drilling will use navigation equipment to locate underground utilities, obstacles and pipework, and use the information to identify a path for your requirements. The drill head contains a transmitter which provides information regarding pitch, position and depth to the surface level locator. The operator can use the information to make required changes.

An angled drill bit equipped with a flexible rod is steered into the pilot hole, and can move around obstacles. Another rod is attached to form a drill string, which bends on the command of the navigator or operator.

Once the pilot bore is completed, the drill head is removed and a back reamer is inserted to enlarge the diameter of the drill path. A piping product is attached to the back reamer and pulled into place.
